Having resumed Calligraphy after a break of almost five to six months, there’s this initial starting trouble because of which my art might not come out exactly as I intend to exhibit. Excuse me for the imperfections if any. 😬 Just getting started all over again…
Oh and before the title is misinterpreted I’d like to clarify what that statement means and what it doesn’t.
By this statement I definitely didn’t mean one should literally go drown when things dont turn out as you want or plan! 😁
It means that one should have a thing, or people, or some place for solace, like indulging into hobbies, going for a walk, listening to music, preparing your favorite meal, watching your favorite series, talking to your friend and so on.
Isn’t it better to distract yourself than holding a burning coal with your bare hands? Yes, when you give in to sudden bursts of anger, anxiety, grieving, you’re feeding your negative emotions, making yourself more vulnerable than before. Instead, try to think of it from a positive light immediately. If that doesn’t come to you initially, it’s normal and understandable. You can try distracting yourself by doing something you enjoy doing the most. And when you’re in a calm state of mind, make a deliberate decision to think about that instance only from a positive aspect.
Situation: You feel you’re being ignored by someone close to you, you’re not being prioritized right.
Thought 1: Fill your mind with the thought that you’re designed for much greater things, you have a destiny, a mission to fulfill. Seeking someone’s attention or emotion is way too trivial in comparison to the bigger things you got to focus on in your life.
Thought 2: If the first one doesn’t sound convincing, then see it this way. The two of you are different individuals with different background, preferences, thought process, mindsets. It’s very unlikely even for the twins to have cent percent match of likes and dislikes! Be willing to buy this fact, fix it in your mind, that “people are different and it’s OKAYYY when people don’t think, talk and act the way you do and want of them”. Even you are not exactly how others want you to be! 😄 Hundreds of people wanting you to be their way! Sounds scary and impossible isn’t it ??? 🥶 Well, It’s the same for others. Accept them as they are. Choose X or Y. Some degree of differences and conflicts are inevitable. This perspective should make you feel better! 💁♀️
Thought 3: If you’re a religious, you can settle with this one. Rejoice knowing that trials bring you closer to God. Rejoice because the creator of the universe loves you and will never abandon you. ❤ Thank God in all circumstances because that’s his holy will for you! 💁♀️ “Rather be glad that you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, so that you may be full of joy when his glory is revealed” 1 Peter 4:13
Eventually this temporary method of taming your mind will automatically transform into a permanent therapy to maintain and promote mental, emotional and physical health. Dealing with negative emotions will no longer be a struggle. The right actions will come from you, right thoughts will come to you, effortlessly, at the right time! ♥️ Anything done regularly becomes a habit.
So, go find your source of solace (the sea)! Take refuge in it (dive in it), when the circumstances you’re surrounded with (the land), are heart- wrenching (treacherous). 🌊
